Podcast: Play in new window | Download
The IAAPA Attractions Expo trade show kicks off with a slew of press conferences. Ed gets his exercise as he tries to cover all of the Day 1 action. SeaWorld secures the coveted first slot but they mostly share details already known. Up next is Jacksonville-based Sally Corp who announces a brand new Sesame Street dark ride for Spain. Ed explains why we won’t be seeing this ride in the U.S. despite many (including Ken) calling for it to be built here.
Dynamic Attractions announce a new ride and it quickly wins 2018 Brass Ring Award for Best New Product Concept. The ride design company with a heavy Orlando presence also announces a new partnership with iconic ride manufacturer Chance Rides. After an interview with Dick Chance and Guy Nelson, Ed and Ken discuss what the new partnership means for the two companies.
Ed then talks about the Madame Tussauds – Daniels Woods Land reveal of the new Aquaman wax figure and Ken spills the beans on some exciting new regarding the figure. Ken and Ed then chat about what trends are seen on the floor of this year’s show.
Our Day 1 coverage closes out with an interview with Allen Boerger of Roto.
